Our wonderful Chancey, RIP, 6/15/1999 - 10/01/2015

Chancey was a stray whose owner never claimed her. Chancey is a Catahoula Leopard Hound, State dog of Louisiana, known for their hunting skills especially Wild Hog and Raccoon's.

A true beloved companion and friend. She was a stray puppy found roaming the middle of Florida with a collar secured only with a nut a bolt.

Fate brought us together, that wonderful day, January 2000. I knew she needed attention, immediately taking her to a Veterinarian by our house. They guessed her age to be around 6 or 7 months, still having all her puppy teeth. Upon examining her she had mange, two types of worms, extremely underweight, dehydrated, burns and sap all over her coat.

When we brought her home for the first time she was extremely scared to enter our home, concluding she had never been in a house, only chained outside her whole life. Chancy was an indoor dog her whole life with us.

Taking Chancey to the Veterinarian’s office was the first car ride we had together and 15 years later, that heart breaking day, the Veterinarian’s office was our last car ride together.

Chancey has brought our family such love and happy memories. We loved her dearly, only wishing we could have had another 16 years with her.
